Good news history lovers, Wednesday 20th January is International #MuseumSelfie day!
On this day museum fans from all around the world will be taking to Twitter and Instagram to share selfies at their favourite museums. This year is the third time the online event will take place, with two the previous years being a roaring success.
Tips for taking part
Remember this event is all about having fun and sharing a love of museums. So don’t feel you need to take things too seriously, but do be careful around other visitors and museum objects. If you aren’t able to visit any museums on the day, it’s fine to share photos from previous visits too. We’d love to see any selfies you have from the Migration Museum, South Australian Maritime Museum or National Motor Museum and will retweet all the best ones!
What can you expect from our museums? Curators are traditionally shy and reclusive creatures. However, we have some exciting behind-the-scenes work happening on the day which I can’t wait to share with you. Keep an eye on the Migration Museum twitter where I will be tweeting whenever I get a break from the hard graft.
